I wish I were feeling poetic. I’m not even chatty (my shirt is too tight – ill fitting clothes always put a damper on my effervescence).
Last night was the meet-up with D. (the ex of K.). It was delightful. She’s as interesting as I remembered. She is intelligent, articulate and funky in a goth-all-grown-up way. I like her much. There were only a few minutes of K. conversation – stemming from curiosity, not burning desire for juicy gossip. I think we’ll meet up again. She mentioned metal karaoke. I’ll I have to follow up on that. She’s the third in a row to say what a blast it is, this metal karaoke.
The remainder of the evening was spent on the couch finishing the cursed top and watching Down By Law (a 1986 Jim Jarmusch film). Tom Waits, John Lurie and Roberto Benini. At first, it made my head hurt. Art film, dialogue-laden, cinematographic scenes. Like one of those 80s German art films. Beautiful to look at still- by-still, but too much of an art film to be watched by those of us not into “film”. Though, we kept watching (took a break to watch Law & Order, dunh dunhhhhh, vive TNT). I must confess that I was hooked by the last third of the movie. Turns out that I find it to be quite good. I do even recommend it to “film” lovers everywhere.
The top. Beautiful, but cursed lavender cotton yarn. I’m weaving in ends and shall crochet on some celery edging to tighten up the neck and sleeves. It fits, but is most unflattering. As C. at the stitchn’bitch suggested Sunday, it will be my comfy-at-home sweater. I shall not knit clothing for myself again (excepting socks) unless I follow a pattern exactly. Still, it is nice to be so close to having a finished project. Photo not likely to be posted as it is such a horridly fitting thing.
