It has been quite a day. I was up at 4:10a.m. At the airport by 6:15a.m. We arrived in Dallas/Fort worth around 10 a.m. local time. There are 14 of us from the Atlanta office. We had a painless orientation and a few hours of training on the computer system. They asked us to leave at 3 p.m. because we'd filled our 8 hour day.
I'm only tired when I sit unoccupied and still. My body is fine, but my brain is exhausted.
In a milder way, I feel like I did the first night I spent with my host family in France my senior summer of high school. Physically tired, but my brain was numb from exhaustion from speaking French and taking in so many new things. Here, my brain is numb from exhaustion from trying to properly manage myself in this new social dynamic.
I think the work side of things will be fine, no worries. But the social side of this, this being so much with colleagues outside of work, is hard for me. Tensions are high and folks are pre-disposed to taking things the wrong way. I do know it will be better once we all settle into a workaday routine.
I am going to see if I can find my carmate and anyone else who might be hungry, for I am starving.
