Found it.

The little white box of happiness is back where she belongs. She'd slipped into my knitting bag (which is, shamefully, a paper bag from Whole Foods). I only thought of the potential hiding place this afternoon, at work, fretting that I had hours of mind numbing file review and no music. Thankfully, one of my colleagues lent me her discman and some cds.

Next weekend is tax free weekend here. I think I might go get me some memory for the iBook. Thinking of getting a new phone, thinking of upgrading the computer... what's happening to me? My lifelines need some care, that's what.

I had drinks with the lifesaving producer of the discman and another chick from work. These are two women I consider friends. It's nice. They are bitter and hopeful and caustic and catty and witty and funny. Excellent company.

Tomorrow, well today (it's nice to get home at 2 because I was out enjoying myself), I will wake up without an alarm, go in to work after taking my time for breakfast, stay only 4 hours, stop at Olive Garden, get back into my pajamas, watch a movie or two, read, and sleep. NASCAR has the day off, so I might watch the myriad race summaries that I've downloaded. Maybe I'll read around in NASCAR.com and BBC news - gotta find out what's going on in the world.

It is imperative that I knit myself a pair of fingerless gloves. I'll be making them with yarn I bought in Amsterdam - blues, greens, and Dutch orange. The sock I'd started (in December!) is only a couple of inches away from the cuff, so really, I've knit a third of the first glove. My goal is to finish these gloves pronto as they will materially improve my work-a-day life.
