This weekend was good. Sunday – lunch out, grocery store visited, Chex mix made.
Monday we started working in our new location. So far, I think the team is warming to me. They see that I have expectations, but I’m not a hard ass. It was uncomfortable to feel like an outsider again - strangers in a supposedly familiar land.
Tuesday – it was an enjoyable day. Lunch with my friend S. and his wife (their house in Atlanta closes in two weeks and they will be officially moved here by the end of July) at a lovely Mexican place. Fantastic spinach mushroom enchiladas in a sour cream sauce. Oh, yes. Afterwards we went to their hotel and watched the Germany-Italy match.
Large HD t.v. in the atrium of the hotel. No one but us for most of the game. Sad that Germany lost, but not surprising. After the game I went to the hotel and grabbed my corn-black bean bar-b-que salad (tasty and vegan so it is always appropriate) and headed out to Bedford for a bar-b-que. My co-lead at work, V., invited me to her family’s holiday gathering. They are a fabulous group of women (there was one man and one boy child, they’re great too, but they sort of stayed on the sidelines – no wonder why). We laughed a lot – it reminded me of times spent with my family unit.
Fireworks were seen from the front yard. Not perfect as they were about 6 blocks away and a bit low to be completely visible over the roof of the neighbor's house, but! No parking issues, no traffic issues, good company. I was happy.
