Saturday

shopping and sunburning

That's what I did yesterday. We went to the Doolin Crafts Gallery. I bought some gifts and then we spent two hours sitting in the garden eating lunch and chatting. It was wonderful to eat lunch in a garden, under a tree, watching the bugs and the flowers and looking at the green hills beyond.

After that, we walked along the main street in Doolin and I bought Christmas gifts at the I & RFB Silversmith. Then we walked to the pier with two of the new arrivals. I was thinking, if someone were to ask me what I did yesterday - I went shopping, I lunched, I did some more shopping. I sound like a Buckhead Betty.

We were to have had the rehearsal and dinner yesterday, but the officiant/close friend and spouse missed their connection and didn't arrive. They are scheduled to arrive today at 12:30pm. My fingers are crossed. There has been much drama and many tense phone calls the past two days... thankfully, none of the drama is bride or groom based. They are both remarkably calm and in good spirits. Things are being worked out and all will be well.

We did have the dinner and it was nice. R. and J. have surrounded themselves with wonderful people. I feel privileged to be a part of their close circle.

I have sunburn blisters along my hairline. They are relatively small, but they are there. I am disgusted with myself and the sunshine. Sunscreen has been liberally and religously applied, yet the sun mastered me and has marked me. Sigh. I long for the cloudy, misty days the weather forecast promised me. Maybe my few days in London will refill my cloudy day resevoir and I shall long for sunshine in Moscow. Sunshine in Moscow. Sounds like a twee band.

That does indeed sound like a great twee name, they could open for Architecture in Helsinki. Now you've got Belle and Sebastian's "Another Sunny Day" in my head...
