I have posted five times since June began. Five times. Does this surprise? Heck no. Perhaps, I kid myself, I shall post more often as I am now officially unemployed. No contract work, no job to fall back on - no gainful employment. There is much to fill my days what with cleaning out the storage unit that is my room at my parents'; however, excepting the monotony and potentially uninspiring activities of my coming weeks, I see no reason to keep me from posting regularly.
I drove to Texas this past Sunday. The drive is long - about 13 and a quarter hours when I make good time - and easy. Get on the freeway, go straight for 860 miles. Stop for gas three times, stop to pee three more times. Food in the cooler, new tunes on the iPod. It doesn't get boring until I'm in the 11th hour, that's when I stop at the first Starbucks. Nothing like a grande Frappucino light to perk you up.
The best part of the drive is crossing the Mississippi River. Such a simple thing, lasting only a few moments, but I love it.
I am in Texas this week to babysit two little girls. Since Monday morning, we've made cupcakes, played Barbies, gone to the library, watched Muppets Take Manhattan, run errands, and had lunch with their mom. And some other stuff. I love Muppets Take Manhattan. They make me laugh out loud. Kermit, Piggy, the chickens, the little bits of funny scattered about in every Muppet movie. Ocean Breeze Soap - for people who don't want to stink.
