I was listening to an article on NPR the other day about the effect of our internet presence on prospective employment. The woman being interviewed referenced her first day at her current job - everyone at the meet and greet had googled (yes, I accept that it is now a verb and no, I won't capitalize it) her and had read things that she'd published in online journals; these new colleagues had a more involved knowledge of her than one might want new colleagues to have. So, I got to thinking... what is my internet presence? I am quite pleased with myself... according to Google, I don't exist! At least, my real self doesn't exist. There's a film producer with my name and my mother shows up a time or two, but not me. Yahoo had one only link to me through my LinkedIn profile; even my public name doesn't show up on their first page of searches. Cool.
