A Wednesday...

And I post. I've sent a number of e-mails to myself that have been sitting in my inbox, waiting patiently for me to decide to post. I know I should post regularly, string you along gently, not yank on the rope, but I've nothing to say in my defense.

Nyah.

I've been reading much more about Formula1 (yes, still a black hole). The president of the FIA (International Automobile Federation, en englais) was outed as a sadomasochist with an anti-semitic bent. He refuses to resign and, despite public disgust and the call for his resignation by many in the organization, he survived the no-confidence vote held June 2.

Hmmm, wonder what would have happened if this had been the president of NASCAR... Blink. Where'd he go?

I suppose you could say it's because the folks in NASCAR are less understanding or tolerant or that the FIA folks are blind. I would have to say that this would be one case where there's more than meets the eye. Still, it does give one pause.

A couple of weeks ago I spent a Saturday evening at a crawfish boil at T. and J.'s. It was fun, but after a while, I found myself in the living room watching the All Star (NASCAR) race. It may sound sad, but it wasn't. I wasn't the only one watching the race and I didn't stay in the living room exclusively, but... well, after a number of conversations that involved where I work and what I was doing, I got tired. I hate that kind of chit chat - I'd rather someone asks who I'm voting for or my favorite treat from the ice cream truck. It is my fault, for I didn't ask these alternate questions, either. I'm just so out of practice at the chit chat thing. Also, my job makes depressingly banal conversation.

I did have an interesting conversation with a woman who has traveled to places I wish to go... Curiously, she is so well-traveled because she was unhappy in her job and used travel as an escape. I wouldn't know anything about that.
