My niece's first birthday was last Saturday. Amazing. One year ago, last Saturday morning, I left work in Texas and found my way to I-20 for the 13 hour drive (well, 12, but since I lose an hour with the time zone, I call it 13... it feels like 13... hell, hours 11-13 feel like 13). I was thinking this afternoon about what I've done in the past year...
Flown to Dallas to see Salome
Flown to Dallas to see Tosca
Flown to Dallas to see The Merry Widow
Visited a friend in DC
Made a well-worth it 10.5 hour drive for a HoodooGurus concert
Visited friends in NC
Spent a week at the beach with the family
Spent two weeks with friends in Gulfport
Went to a wedding in Americus
Got a job doing something new
Spent almost 6 months unemployed, living a life of leisure, hanging out with my sister and the then new baby
Lost 12 pounds
There's some other stuff in there like plays and concerts not to mention the lovely dinners and outings with family and friends. I often think that my life is too quiet, but it is not empty nor is it boring. I am never bored.
Here are a couple of photos from my niece's birthday... with my new camera!
This is how the afternoon felt to me... I love their smiles.
Cake? Really, I don't want it. You have some.
