There is a knitter named Wendy. Wendy has written a manifesto. Wendy rocks.
I don’t care what you protein fanatics say, rice is good. It is good and it should be eaten. Yum. I am by no means a thin girl, but I believe in the inherent value of carbohydrates. To see castigated those that eat them or to listen to those who have given them up entirely makes me sad. I am wary of extremes – they do not often bring goodness into the world. Politically, religiously, nutritionally.
A thought to carry in your pocket:
To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. - Theodore Roosevelt, 1918
This year is the first that I’ve taken an active interest in doing more than simply voting in the election. I’m not an activist, but I have been chatting people up, encouraging them to vote – even if they vote for someone I think is not the best person for the job. That whole “by the people” concept, the system doesn’t work if people don’t get involved. If you’re quiet about your politics and don’t like Bush, try t-shirts. I love mine, stylish conversation starters that they are.
FYI: As the day progresses, I become ever more grumpy. If anyone crosses me and I shall spew vitriol at them.
