I’m fighting a cold. I apparently look flushed and crappy this morning. So, I’m popping C and acetaminophen (I can’t believe that word is in MS spellchecker! Wow. I am impressed). Today is a colleague’s last day with us for she is soon to hop a plan to Prague. M. is going to receive training in teaching English and then will spend a year in Easter Europe teaching English. Very cool. We are having wonderful food today – mole (those carnivores among us will have chicken simmered in mole), beans, rice, salad, tortillas, and a beautiful tres leches cake. Y., the receptionist here, is from Mexico and is the best cook! Second best thing to having a Mexican grandma is having a Y. around. Her tres leches is a thing to worship.
I had a mini-breakdown yesterday. I enjoy my colleagues and the work environment here is good, but I don’t want to be where I am in life and this influences everything I do. My work product hasn’t begun to show it yet, but I am burnt out. Crispy at the edges.
I have been considering teaching. Middle school social studies or even high school French, though, I don’t know if I want to study French again. I’m going to look into both options. I need to do something.
