Gargh! It is Monday and I feel as if I’ve been hit by a truck.
My weekend was spent driving, packing, hauling, lifting, shoving, cleaning, and barely sleeping. Left Atlanta Friday at 2:30 and found a brilliant parking space on Connecticut Avenue in Dupont 11 hours later. Less than a block from the hotel. Hotdamn. The parking gods were smiling on us, to be certain.
Saturday, when I wasn’t packing, hauling, lifting, shoving, or cleaning, I tapped my inner contortionist to get in and out of the bathroom without letting the cagey cats escape into the chaotic open-doored apartment. For a task with no renown, the move went well. The weather was glorious and my family well behaved. A seductive day. The sky blue and dotted with fluffy white clouds. Breezy, unseasonably cool. A day begging to be appreciated.
OH! And I saw the van with the velvet covered bar. It truly is a noteworthy conveyance.
Their new place is wonderful. I look forward to seeing it set to rights. Good vibes emanating from the new apartment, despite the disgusting (rendered pristine by yours truly) bathroom.
Sunday, had lunch, packed the car and drove home. The 10-hour drive took 12+. North Carolina’s stretch of I-85 is a disaster area. Constant, incessant, ever present, unending, terminal construction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, and the last hour of NC maintained road was spent in stink – rotting road kill, dead fish, dying lake, random unidentifiable odiousness. Yes, yes. I know. Quit being grumpy. You made it home in one piece. True.
I’m already thinking of making the trip in October. Considering going to the Fall Fiber Festival of Virginia. It’s a two hour drive from DC and would be a place for me to spend too much money while playing with sheep, oodles of gadgets, and more wool than my hands can fondle. I may just go up to visit the kids and their cats in the new place. Save some money for an iBook.
I’m just rambling today. Too tired to think about my words. I’m only writing on the blog because, I must admit, I have grown quite fond of seeing words that I write show up on a publicly accessible website.
