There were lines at every gas station I passed on my way home from work.
About three p.m. a colleague walked past tolling his bell of doom. "Atlanta's out of gas!"
I believe there may be a shortage, but not an actual drying of all the tanks. People panic and exacerbate a situation. It gives me a nervous stomach to think that folks, in their panic, will drain the gas drums and manufacture the crisis they feared.
I am heartsick for the people in Louisana, Mississippi and Alabama. I compare myself, on the verge of a great travel adventure, with the people in New Orleans who are at the beginning of months of desperation. I am without words.
