Delft. Again.

I went to Delft today. I wanted to paint another tile. For your viewing pleasure, the tile painting process as put forth by the Royal Delft website:

The clay they use is grey and it is dipped in a white matte glaze. The ink is black before it is fired.
One of their painters shows you how to use the paint and the two types of brushes (fine and wide) and will brush on (carbon dust over a pattern with holes pricked in it) the pattern (or not) of your choice.
It's black on white when you leave. As with most artistic things, it's much more difficult than it looks.
The tile arrives happily in your mailbox looking like a real piece of Delft pottery. It's way cool. Mine will not have the fine, straight (or controlled) lines that the sample has, but I didn't do so bad a job.

Another reason I wanted to return to Delft is that I was a bit grumpy when I last went there (what with the getting lost and all that), so I wanted to go and get a better impression. I did. Even with the gusty wind and steady rain, Delft was better this time. I didn't get the least bit turned around.

I've decided (with help from A. and M.) that I shall stay another two days (and if you stay another month complete). Tomorrow I will do Haarlem which I have wanted to see again. Going to see the Michelangelo exhibit at the Teylers Museum. I also will revisit the Frans Hals Museum. Haarlem is about 30 minutes from Amsterdam, so I'll have time to go to the store and pick out something for dinner. It's the least I can do, feed them and do the dishes.

It works out nicely for me because I equally want to visit longer and move on. With their encouragement I decided to stay and am glad of it.
