Well, hello again.
I'm feeling a little punch drunk from sleep. Too much sleep. Well, not really. I was in bed from 3-11. Eight hours. Still, getting up at 11... it feels decadent.
The whole idea of having more free time on night shift, yeah, not so. I do think that my "day" passes more quickly because I'm not so tired what with getting 8 hours a night rather than the usual 6. Also, there's just so much to do. Holy crap there's a lot of work.
Tonight we have our team meeting where I'll be introduced. I have been walking around trying to get an idea of how people work and interact with each other. A couple of days of observation before they know who I am. Helpful and sneaky.
Driving home last night was surreal. I stopped at the red light at Rental Car Road (I appreciate the straight forward street names, Road to Six Flags Road, Airport Freeway Parkway, County Line Road, and you can just bet that there was a north gate somewhere at the end of Northgate Road). I looked over to my left. The street sign rattled from the breeze, the tree leaves undulated like schools of fish (yes, I had that thought, like a school of fish), in the nearest distance the sky was ablaze with the light of a hundred rental car lot lights. I felt like I was in one of those ironic indie movies.
