Monday

Lethargy.

Today I tidied, shaved my legs (always an accomplishment), went Christmas shopping, made cupcakes for a colleague's birthday, read, made dinner... all the while my spirit's been mired in lethargy.

This morning I was chipper when I woke, had a nice breakfast, read the funnies. One of the strips, I cannot remember which strip, said something about today being the anniversary of the last day of our pre-9/11 world. That quieted me down.

The rest of the day I stayed productive (as productive as I'll be on a day off), but lethargic.

For the cupcakes I used Paula Deen's gooey pumpkin cake recipe. I wanted cupcakes rather than the cake because I needed more than 20 pieces (which is waht I get from my pan). They turned out great. I'm making the cupcakes for my colleague because she didn't get to go on her planned weekend trip to Mexico. She was going to spend the day in Juarez buying jewelry. When I heard this, I asked her not to go. Juarez is not just an impoverished border town, but is one of the most dangerous towns for women. Enough people gave her the same warning that she cancelled the trip. I heard that she was almost in tears with disappointment. I am glad she didn't go and I wanted to do something nice for her.

I wanted to write when I sat down, but now I'm tired. G'night.
