Back in the ATL

The Hoodoo Gurus were, as expected, fabulous. My only complaint is of how short their set was. Well, that and that I had to endure almost 10 minutes of the young, earnest opening act we saw. After getting turned around a bit, we arrived at the Black Cat just in time to see the last few songs of an act that made me regret my decision to forego the ever-so-stylish orange, squishy earplugs. Sigh. The 10 minutes was made better by the quickly downed gin and tonic and after their set a second gin and tonic further soothed my head.

Hee. I'm so glad I went.

The entire experience was enhanced by Jenifer's company. She and her husband are back from Russia and in Chapel Hill, where I stopped by to pick her up. Wednesday, after a lovely breakfast and a well-spent hour in IKEA, we headed back to Chapel Hill for two evenings of conversation. I drove home this morning.

Despite not having a job and having to prey upon the good nature of my parents and moving back in with them, I feel like the limbo of the last year and a half is done. New phase. It is a good feeling.

I have grand plans for this week. I need to begin - read: throw myself into - culling my possessions. The first task is to organize my CDs. It is a small thing, but the most easily accomplished.
