Yes, more NASCAR talk.

I went to the Nationwide race Saturday. The forecast was for cold and cloudy. While the sun was welcome, I did not regret wearing tights under my jeans and a wool sweater under my winter hiking coat. Nor did I regret having donned scarf and gloves and wool socks. The sun was a fantastic surprise and my Uncle and I had a great day. Now you look at pictures.

I took this to show that you can give a false impression of prettiness to any location. These are a couple of the maybe six trees with buds on them... most of the Atlanta Motor Speedway is landscaped with concrete bricks, asphalt and flagpoles. Notice the flags -- that wind kept up all afternoon.

This is the most non-NASCAR fan interesting action shot I caught. I need a bigger lens... no, I need a bigger camera with a bigger lens. Yeah, that's it.

Not even close to the lobster-esque a sunburn as at the October race. This teaches me, for the April race I will attend in Texas, not to leave the sunscreen in the car.

The Nationwide Series is of shorter races, which appeals to me. As does the cheaper ticket prices. We paid $35 for seats that cost $105 for the Cup race Sunday. Sure, I didn't get to see Jimmie Johnson race, but the engines still give that same chest vibrating growl and whine. And it's not like I can't watch Sunday's race on television. Which I did. I ironed for hours (a chore I enjoy, but put off until it takes hours to complete) and watched the race. Almost too much racing for me, but not quite.

I feel myself sinking deeper -- I found myself on stockcarracing.com the other night. It is an informational site for folks who want to be racers; there are articles on how to paint your car and whether or not it's better to cut your racing teeth on dirt or asphalt tracks. While I have not even a whispering inclination to be a racer, I found some articles interesting.

I can almost hear my mother softly asking herself why.
