The Cold War Kids show I went to in Chapel Hill was fantastic! H. and I drove up at noon the day of, had dinner with Jenifer and Scot, walked into the venue, found a decent spot and turned our attention to the stage. Not 30 seconds later the band entered. Except for the 6 hours there and 5.5 hours back (yes, when focused, I do make good time) within a 17 hour time span, it was a perfect evening.
I do acknowledge that it was a little bit insane. Leave Atlanta at noon, evening in Chapel Hill, drive back at 11:30 after the show. We had fully intended to stay the night somewhere along the way, but the nervousness I felt at the possibility of not making it to work on time was compelling. As was the lack of traffic. When the stupid people are sleeping, traveling along I-85 is quite pleasant.
My car has 199,800 something miles and still gets about 34 miles to the gallon. My little Civic, how I love you. And I must also sing the praises of cruise control. Better gas mileage, feet free for tapping and bouncing along to the music.
