I guess I could say happy month, again. Once a month is not too bad, really. I've been being boring again. When I do feel like writing it goes into my nanowrimo novel. Yes, the deadline passed, but I like my story enough that I continue to daub bits and pieces to it. Nothing concentrated as I've hit a plot wall, but it is still alive and occasionally kicking me. Which is good.
December was a good enough month. The Christmas week at the beach was good. I could have happily had another week, but alas, gainful employment must remain a part of my world. For now. No immediate plans, but I've begun researching my next trip. Australia is a strong candidate, but France is gaining ground. Not a touristy trip this time, something more substantial as far as how I occupy my time. Hopefully, it will all work out so that I don't have to leave my job. There's time yet to plan as my personal goal to be on the plane isn't until August of 2010. Plenty of time.
I am thinking that 2009 will be good. I like 9 more than 8. My new year feeling comes in Spring, but the changing of the calendars is a motivation to tidy and reorganize and start new things. Like eating better and using the gym membership I decided to buy. And doing things I've not often been doing - writing on my blog, uploading photos to Flickr, you know, difficult things for a lazy person.
Oh, and time to dive into a new yarn obssession. Amigurumi. It's a Japanese style of crochet where you crochet very tightly to achieve super cuteness. I've made an apple and an alien, an owl, an octopus, and I'm almost finished with a mantaray. Too many planned projects for reality, but I'm enjoying myself.
I recently finished a scarf for the Special Olympics. The organizer of the Lawrenceville knitter's meet-up group, brought it up and I decided to make one. With Red Heart Super Saver yarn... this was a bit of a sacrifice on my part. It had to be this particular yarn because the colors chosen match almost exactly the Special Olympic blue and white (as requested by the organizers). but RHSS is like knitting with... it's like... well, I'll just say it isn't soft. After I finished the blue and white scarf, I started working again on my mother's scarf which is being made with a merino sock weight yarn... it was like sticking my fingers in butter. Lovely and soft.
Okay. Back to the tidying. Check out my Flickr page for photos...
