Monday

Home. Pretty colors, blue me.

As I drove most of the way home in the dark, I didn't realize that the leaves have changed. In Gulfport, most everything is still green or barely changing. Out the window of our den I now see red, yellow, rust, holly green, orange, and lustrous browns. Outside it smells damp and rich. Today is overcast, but in the sunshine yesterday all was drenched color and perfect autumn.

Yesterday saw the last race of the season. Jimmie Johnson won the championship. The sad note was played by Junior who finished 36th through no fault of his own. Next year will be better for him. Until then, I will deal with post-season blues by turning my attention to the Bundesliga (German soccer federation) and UEFA (Union of European Football Associations). Maybe some American football, too. I might not watch it, but I still feel the need to try and understand it.

I will also make myself feel better by knitting up a slew of fabulous things on my new needles. They are beautiful - no really, on an aesthetic plane, not a knitting one. Interchangeable needles from Knitpicks. My birthday gift from H.

Not only are they beautifully colored, but they feel nice in the hands.
